"Lee was thorough, thoughtful and extremely helpful, turning a problem, limited and intermittent reception, into an excellent result, 100% reception on every station."
TV aerial repair in Chichester, found and fixed.
No signal, a picture that freezes every few seconds, or half the channels gone? We trace the fault from the aerial on the roof to the socket behind your TV, fix the part that’s failed, and show you it working before we leave.
5.0from 130 Google reviewsFix the fault, not the whole system
A TV signal travels a long way before it reaches your screen: down from the aerial, through a joint or two, along a cable in the loft or down the outside wall, sometimes through an amplifier or splitter, then out of a wall plate and into the TV. A fault at any one of those points looks exactly the same on the screen.
That’s why guessing gets expensive. Swap the aerial when the real problem is a corroded joint and the picture is no better. We test along the run until we find where the signal drops, then repair that part.
Sometimes the fix is small: a new connector, a stretch of cable, an aerial turned back on line. Sometimes the aerial has had its day. Either way you’ll know what we found and why, before any work is done.
Four checks worth doing first
None of these need a ladder, and they can save you a call out.
Retune the TV
Channels move from time to time. A full retune from the TV’s settings menu sorts out a surprising number of “missing channel” problems on its own.
Try another TV
If every TV in the house has lost the picture, the problem is likely on the roof, in the loft or in shared cabling. If only one has, look at that TV, its lead and its wall socket.
Check the lead
Make sure the aerial lead is pushed firmly into the TV and the wall plate. Lean on a cabinet and a plug can work half out. Swap the lead for a spare if you have one.
Look for a power light
If your aerial runs through an amplifier, often in the loft or behind the TV, check it has power. A tripped socket or a dead power supply takes out every TV it feeds.
How we find the fault
We work along the signal path in order, so nothing gets missed.
Aerial and alignment
Is it pointing at the right transmitter, and is it still in one piece? Wind can turn an aerial a few degrees, which is enough to lose the weaker channels.
Mast and bracket
A loose clamp or a bent pole moves the aerial every time the wind blows, which is why the picture comes and goes in bad weather.
Joints and connectors
Where water gets into a connector it corrodes, and near the coast that happens faster. Green or crusty connections get cut back and remade.
Cable
Old, cheap or damaged cable loses signal. We test it and replace the run if it’s past saving. For a full new setup see TV aerial installation.
Amplifiers, splitters and wall plates
The kit indoors that shares the signal between rooms can fail too. We check each piece and the socket behind every TV that isn’t working.
When a new aerial is the right answer
We’d rather repair than replace, but there are times when a new aerial is the sensible call: when the old one is visibly broken or rusted through, when it was never the right type for your distance from the transmitter, or when the whole run of cable is so old that patching it would only buy a few months.
If that’s where we land, we’ll tell you on the day and give you a clear price before going ahead. If you’d also like a TV point in another room or a satellite dish looked at, it makes sense to do it on the same visit.

"Amazing! Can’t recommend Lee enough. Came out Christmas Day, within an hour of my call. Completely reliable and excellent standard of work."
"As I am a widowed older person I was cautious in contacting Cox AV to look at my TV and aerial. I needn’t have worried. He was quick, his work good… I would not hesitate to recommend him. Thank you Lee."
