Picture breaking up, channels missing, or no signal at all after a storm? We fit new digital aerials, sort out poor reception and add TV points to other rooms across Chichester, Selsey and the Manhood Peninsula.
5.0from 130 Google reviewsMost reception problems have a simple cause
When Freeview starts freezing or dropping channels, people tend to blame the TV. It’s rarely the TV. Far more often it’s something on the roof or in the cable run: an aerial knocked out of line by the wind, a corroded connection, or a cable that’s been chewed, kinked or left out in the weather for twenty years.
Living near the coast makes all of that more likely. Salty air is hard on aerials and metal fittings, and the wind coming off the sea doesn’t do masts any favours. An aerial that would last for years inland can look tired after a few winters on the peninsula.
We start by finding where the signal is being lost, then fix that. Sometimes it’s a new aerial. Often it’s a new cable, a better connection or an aerial turned back towards the transmitter, which is a much cheaper job.
What we’re usually called out for
If any of these sound familiar, it’s worth a call before you buy a new TV.
Pixelated or freezing picture
The classic sign of a weak or unstable signal. The cause can be anywhere between the aerial and the back of the TV, so we check each part of the run rather than guessing.
Channels missing after a retune
Freeview channels move from time to time, and an older or badly aimed aerial can lose the weaker ones. Sometimes a retune is all it needs. Sometimes the aerial needs adjusting or replacing.
Storm damage
A bent mast, a loose bracket or an aerial pointing at the sky after a windy night. We’ll make it safe and get it back on the right transmitter.
Mobile signal interference
4G and 5G masts broadcast close to the frequencies Freeview uses, and can swamp a TV signal. A filter in the right place often clears it up.
Aerial work we do
From a single new aerial to feeding every TV in the house.

Roof, chimney or wall mounted, aimed at the right transmitter and connected with proper outdoor-grade cable rather than the thin stuff that comes in a bag.
Loft aerials
Where the signal is strong enough, an aerial in the loft stays out of the weather and lasts much longer. We’ll test first and tell you honestly whether it will work at your address.
Extra TV points
A TV point in a bedroom, kitchen or extension, with an amplifier if the signal needs splitting several ways.
Replacing old cabling
Swapping tired cable, untangling years of add-ons, and taking away old aerials and cable you no longer need.
Flats and big houses
For blocks and large homes with lots of outlets, a shared system works better. See communal TV systems.
Where Chichester gets its Freeview from
Most homes around Chichester and down onto the Manhood Peninsula point their aerial towards the Rowridge transmitter on the Isle of Wight, across the Solent. Further north, towards Midhurst and the Downs, some properties are better served by the Midhurst transmitter instead. Pointing at the wrong one, or at one that’s partly blocked by trees or a neighbour’s extension, is a common reason for a poor picture.
We check which transmitter gives your address the cleanest signal before we fix anything to the roof, so the aerial goes up once and stays put. If you also want satellite channels, we can look at the dish on the same visit.

"Amazing! Can’t recommend Lee enough. Came out Christmas Day, within an hour of my call. Completely reliable and excellent standard of work."
"As I am a widowed older person I was cautious in contacting Cox AV to look at my TV and aerial. I needn’t have worried. He was quick, his work good… I would not hesitate to recommend him. Thank you Lee."
